Trivia Question: Who was the first guy to give Andy Roddick a Winner's Check on the ATP tour? His name is Bill Oakes, AKA "The Tennis Commish." The Commish was a part of every AT&T Challenge, which for almost two decades was Atlanta's ATP event. He also worked on the Washington Legg Mason ATP event, as well as ATP events in Scottsdale and Long Island. Bill knows the players, the suits, the behind-the-scenes players and anyone else in tennis. He's truly the Simon Cowell of the tennis television world. But don't let his blunt tv demeanor fool you, he's just as blunt on the tennis court! Bill is now the Director of Sales and Marketing for the USTA Southern Section, based in Atlanta.

I've seen that guy on the Atlanta courts!
Sam Crenshaw, a Birmingham, AL native, joined 11Alive News in September of 1998 and serves the station as sports anchor for 6 & 11 p.m. each Saturday and Sunday evening. Sam is an avid tennis player and mercilessly taunts opponents with a wicked slice. He also won the 2006 USTA award for media excellence.

Bryan heads up KIDS DAYS for the ATP in America. He also does "on court interviews", intros, tennis clinics, television commentary, and other emcee work for the Tour. He is a frequent national clinician and speaker. He also makes numerous appearances each year as the front man for his two bands, The Wayne Bryan Band and The Bryan Bros. Band. His sons, Mike and Bob, also happen to be the two best doubles players in the world.

Angela Mitchell hosts the Matchpoint Buzz segment -- a dishy round-up of what famous tennis players are doing in their spare time. Think "Talk Soup" for tennis! Angela is a well-known tv personality in Atlanta, hosting Atlanta Falcons pre-game coverage and other sports programs.

"Jeff Batten" roughly translated into Native American language is "he who cannot be fired". Actually, Matchpoint is Jeff's creation, and he wisely stays behind-the-scenes for the television side of it. He does help host the "Matchpoint Radio" show on Atlanta's 680thefan and is well-known on that program for name-dropping and for such profundities as "wow, isn't Chris Evert great?"
